Skylook is pretty neat

Skylook - Skype from within Outlook!I’ve had a chance to give Skylook a go and I’ve been very impressed.

Now, I don’t know whether that’s because I’m impressed by Skype, Skylook or the combination of the two.

You see, I haven’t bothered loading up Skype before because I’m on an old ISDN connection here, not broadband, and thought that Skype wouldn’t cope that well.

But I called Jeremy Hague of Skylook today with a query on some of the features of the tool – and the recording of BOTH of our voices (no mucking about with virtual audio cables!) was clear and clean, as was the connection.

I like the way that you can search for a contact, call up their details and the Skylook toolbar in Outlook changes to that person.

So I could, for example, while on a call to Jeremy, cue up a call to Neville Hobson and once I’d finished with Jeremy dial Neville straight away. That’s cool in my books.

On installation of Skylook you can import all of your skype contacts into outlook, and this is brilliant — skype can search its database to see if anyone in your outlook contacts list is also a skype user, then adds them to your skype list automatically.

No doubt as I play with the software more I will find more to comment about.
