Courtesy of PodcastingNews, it seems that those over 45 years of age are more interested in the world of podcasts, including both listening to and creating them, than the younger, more tech-savvy perhaps, under 25 year olds.
As I commented to some comms colleagues in a client of mine, this interesting demographic split is clearly important to marketers – the key decision-makers and money-spenders are in these two groups.
One group has no children, the other has children probably near to moving out of the nest; both groups probably have a bit more cash available to them that those between 25 and 45.
If older folks are more interested in listening to podcasts then ‘rock on’ gray power. But equally, the survey by CLX shows that the under 25s are showing an interest in the medium.
Time for marketers to figure out how to communicate to them…
