Is A Blog Value Calculator Based On Inbound Links Accurate?

I wrote about blog worth on Somewhat Frank back on October 6, 2005 when the Weblogs, Inc./AOL deal was made and bloggers used it as a validation for how much their blogs are worth. Since then a post by Josh

[...] How much is your Blog worth? Lee Hopkins did the math and computed a number of blog-valuations. The values are based upon the Weblogs, Inc./AOL deal, i.e. dividing the purchase price by the number of inbound links the blogs have. Your blog value is determined by multiplying your Technorati link count by a dollar amount. [...]

It's a cute little applet, but you have pointed out why it's useless, just cute.

I mean, why on earth is FIR, which has pretty much become the joint H&H site (come on, boys, don't hold back...when's the date?!), given an $0? And Kathy, as you say, is a hell of a read.

And there are a couple of PR people on that list who are wildly overpriced if we are to judge by content. But, Manhattan has always been wildly overpriced.

I suppose I should feel kinda small-potatoes, but then, the TypePad blog *is* only a few months old. I'm sure I'll be worth millions in, oh, say, a few months?
