Are you responsible for purchasing domain names?

G'day! Thanks for returning!

Get someone else to check your domain name idea before purchasing

Are you responsible for purchasing domain names? Then might I humbly suggest you get someone to sanity-check your ideas before you go ahead and purchase them?

Because the purchasers of the following domains obviously didn’t:

Who Represents?, a database for agencies to the rich and famous: www.whorepresents.com

Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views: www.expertsexchange.com

Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island: www.penisland.net

Need a therapist? www.therapistfinder.com

Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales: www.molestationnursery.com (although to be fair to them, they obviously realised their mistake and purchased a less controversial domain name to redirect to; also proof that you can lead a whore to culture but you can’t make her think*)

New to Milan and you need electric light? Why not sign up on-line with Power-Gen? www.powergenitalia.com (I think their server just crashed from everyone hitting it to see if it is real)

*Dorothy Parker’s bon mot, not mine

With many thanks to Donna P and her wonderful weekly jokes email

This post was first read during lunchbreak on a Friday that really wasn’t going my way. This comic relief was much appreciated. Thanks Lee.
