G'day! Thanks for returning!
One of the benefits of being in absentia for a fortnight is that one doesn’t get so easily drawn drawn into the everyday dramas of the blogosphere.
I refer, of course, to ‘StrumpGate’.
The arrival into our little niche of the blogosphere of someone so obviously out to generate publicity has done wonders for the conversation. A little scandal always goes a long way in our niche…
Whilst debate still rages about whether the Strumpette is indeed a ‘real’ woman or, as Derek Leverington so admirably sleuthed,* ‘Dude is a lady’, what is fascinating is how many feathers have been ruffled and what energy he/she has generated.
Of course, once the novelty is over the traffic will die down, the Strump will have to find other ways of generating publicity, and all will return to normal in ‘Sleepy Hollows’.
Whether the Strump is out to generate clients of a distinctly public or a distinctly private nature is a moot point — what they have done is generate flames fanned by the oxygen of publicity. And for that, a someone who stands outside of his/her range of fire, I salute them.
* I wonder if it was Derek who showed those journalists how to find so many CIA spooks?
