It’s not Feedburner’s fault! Eyes now on Feedblitz

Update on my previous post, wherein Trevor Cook was about to break open the Bolli to celebrate me overtaking him…

Jessie from Feedburner‘s Engineering Team emailed me (she tried commenting but my spam filter eat her comment, for some bizarre reason). A quick recovery effort from within Akismet uncovered that two other members of the Feedburner team, Matt and Dick, had also responded extremely rapidly.

A closer look at the Feedburner stats shows that my Feedblitz numbers are the culprit of the 70% jump in subscriber numbers. But going to the feedblitz site itself causes confusion: a listing of all subscribers shows only 4 people subscribing via Feedblitz so far in 2007.

It will be interesting to see if the Feedblitz numbers settle down over the weekend as tech types investigate further…

It certainly doesn’t look like the issue that Nik is reporting over a similar series of number jumps (thanks to Trevor and Dave Briggs for the links).

Thanks for following up and getting something through to me so quickly, Jessie, Matt and Dick

    G’day Phil,

Thanks for the update. What strikes me as curious is that my feedblitz widget on my blog has stayed fairly constant at around the 330-340 mark for a while now, but the dashboard has leapt up.

So which is correct — the widget or the dashboard?

    Cheers,
    Lee
