Crisis? What Crisis? Even in the quietest moments…

Crisis? What Crisis? Album cover by Supertramp
[supertramp album cover - read a great Supertramp trivia post from David Buck]

My arch nemesis and rival Allan Jenkins has pointed me to a couple of really good posts on Crisis Communication.

He is a good chap!

First there’s Ten lessons from Katrina (on our ability to cope with a crisis) by Dave Pollard; then a post from the Christian Science Monitor about text/sms messages in a crisis (which I have posted about before).

In light of my recent work, a timely reminder to ALL that you never know when the next crisis is going to hit so be like a Boy Scout and be prepared.

Thanks, Allan.

Per the cellphone alerts: If an alert is issued & your phone is off, does the alert make a sound? lol Also, my parents (& many users younger than they) couldn’t download & install something on their phone if their life depended on it.
    So,
Do we give every citizen a free cell phone & free chargers (for home, the car(s), & set up “Charging Stations” for the Homeless & Poor, & provide free batteries for life? Otherwise, I genuinely believe that we are shirking our responsibility as members of the Society. And, I don’t advocate any such giveaway program. See no.2 on the Ten lessons from Katrina post for the chances that this sort of a system could work Universally.

As for no.9, ‘We are less and less self-sufficient’, that case can be made for every generation since Cave-Persons quit having to beat the devil out of an animal in order to eat (or, depending on your Faith-based viewpoint, since Adam & Eve got tossed). No one knows what a human being can accomplish until that person is fully using their Brain. That rarely happens.

Easing back down to my normal level (2.74992% of system resources),
    Love & Peace, Clarence
