Update on Second Chance for Trees

G'day! Thanks for returning!

My colleague-in-arms and “the bloke who could be my brother” New Yawk-located Paull Young has updated a whole bunch of us who have posted about the Virtual Forest Project.

Says Paull:

Hi there Second Chance Trees Supporters

I apologize for the group note, but I just wanted to touch base with an update about the American Express Members Project, some important news – and most importantly, to sincerely thank you for your support for a good cause.

IMPORTANT NEWS – PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU VOTED FOR ‘THE VIRTUAL FOREST PROJECT. ONE MILLION TREES. EASY’

Firstly, and most importantly, I would like to let you know about a problem with the voting process that has quite possibly confused some of your readers. There is another project amongst the 50 finalists which has almost the exact same name as the ‘Virtual Forest Project. One Million Trees. Easy.’ Unfortunately, this entry is more prominently placed than our project name and we fear that many people have been trying to support our Second Life based reforestation initiative and may be disappointed if they did not vote for the correct entry.

The good news is that people can change their vote if they choose – so please, if you would like to be sure you are supporting the ‘Virtual Forest Project. One Million Trees. Easy.’, take a minute to double check your vote.

To check your vote:

* Login with your credentials at www.membersproject.com

* On the right side of the page, near the counter counting the hours left for voting, you’ll see “My Watchlist”

* And, listed, “My Current Vote”

* If that doesn’t read “The Virtual Forest Project. 1 million trees. Easy.” — then you voted for another project, with a similar name (confusing, right?)

If you’d like to change your vote (have a good look around, we’d love your vote but you might find another project more compelling!):

* Scroll down the list of Top 50 projects

* Find the one called ‘The Virtual Forest Project. One Million Trees. Easy.’

* Click the upper left tab, “Vote for this project”

48 HOURS REMAINING AND 247 VOTES NEEDED TO MAKE THE NEXT ROUND

The competition closes this Sunday July 15. As it stands we need 247 votes to make the top 25 and move on to the next round. It’s really very close so every single vote is truly valuable!

THANKS FOR SUPPORTING A GOOD CAUSE (AND SHOWING THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA BY ASSOCIATION)

Again, thank you for taking your time to support a good cause, and also show off the power of social media and Second Life for doing good in the real world! As I write there have been 100 blog posts and 1,013 views of the machinima video. Even more impressively – Second Life has beaten out Martin Scorcese, Ellen DeGeneres, Andre Agassi and a host of other celebs (well… sort of ;-) ). If you Google ‘American Express Members Project’ you’ll see the number two result is the Second Chance Trees YouTube video, ahead of both the official site and the official TV ad!

I’m available 24 hours a day over the weekend if you need any help or have any questions, your support is extremely valuable and I’d love to hear any ideas from you on how we could maximize our vote at this critical juncture!

Cheers,
