A while back I wrote about Microsoft’s beta Live Writer blog software. I use it, I love it, it’s the best offline blog editor I know of.
But it still has a handful of features I’d love to see make it to the next beta release…
- Ability to set a ‘default’ images folder for each blog, rather than default to ‘My Pictures’ on the c: drive.
- The image corruption/degradation issue fixed.
- The simplification of uploaded images — they get put into bizarre folders with bizarre filenames on my WordPress blog; far better it would be, methinks, to have the original image name uploaded to the image folder (i.e. no bizarre filenames, no creating extra folders) — in this way I can point to the image again if I ever need to use it in another post, thereby saving myself server space.
- A better ‘format’ toolbar, allowing me to pick font, size, colour, etc from the toolbar, rather than at present via the ‘Format’ dropdown menu item.
- The ability to completely remove a faulty plug-in.
- Clearer instructions on how to format ‘Insert’ed text via plug-ins (e.g. how to add css tags, how to bold or italicize selected words — I appreciate that this is not directly Microsoft’s fault, but perhaps they could encourage their plug-in authors to add clearer instructions).
