Another use for Twitter

Sue Dewhurst (a fabulous communicator based in the UK) recently had one of those ‘flickering light bulb’ moments, this time regarding Twitter.

Sue confessed to previously holding a very negative view of it but realising that it might have some use in the business setting after all.

Colleague Alex Manchester from Melcrum in Sydney suggested a brilliant use of the tool: instantly updating your sales team colleagues about client meetings you have just had, so that everyone gets an ‘ambient presence’ “feel” for who is talking to who about what. Brilliant!

The seminar and client meetings I’ve been runnning in Perth on behalf of the ace PR firm Clarity have also created a few of those “I think I see a use for it” moments amongst some senior comms people here, too.

I just love being a part of these moments!

    Hi Lee,

As you like being a part of those moments, you’ll probably also be pleased to know that I also (on the strength of your comments about getting the ‘sneezers’ on board to infect others with their enthusiasm about technology), got straight onto Amazon and ordered Seth Godin’s ‘Unleasing the Ideasvirus’.

When I saw Alex Manchester’s comment that he, also had joined Twitter on the strength of your enthusiasm and is now spreading the word on as I am, it struck me that you are obviously something of a sneezer yourself …!
