Those very fine folks over at the MarketingSherpa site have put together a fabulous report on the ezine mistakes so many companies make.

Do yourself a favour and grab your own copy of the report and read, read, read… because I get so sick of unsubscribing to ezines that I thought had lots of promise yet fail to impress when they make these simple mistakes.

Examples:

  • Blatant lack of permission to send the ezine (opt-out instead of opt-in)
  • Lame ‘Welcome’ messages
  • Frequency of messaging completely wrong for the market
  • Institutionalised ‘one-to-one’ email
  • ‘Community’ is a buzz-word heavily used but never actually given a chance — as in, no actual community tools made available to the readership (forums, REAL people to contact, etc.,)
  • and so much more!

Thankfully, the folks over at MarketingSherpa then give great examples of how to do it right!

If you hurry, you can even pick up your copy for zero dollars! Better be quick…
