Being an independent businessman, I am always looking at ways of supplementing my income (legally! ahem).
My Google Adsense program does okay for me, but I’m not about to retire yet. Whilst the Adsense ToS preclude me from posting my actual earnings, let me say that my main web1.0 site, with over 200 articles on business communication, generates about 75% of my Adsense revenue, the remaining 25% coming from this blog.
So when an unsolicited email got caught by my spam filter the contents intrigued me enough to investigate further.
Over the years I have spent a small fortune on internet marketing literature – all the way from the early Cory Rudl material, via Mark Joyner, Joe Vitale, Marlon Sanders, and all the way up to the current crop of new stars like the brilliant NitroMarketing team. All of their material is top-rate and worth the entrance fee, that’s for sure.
I’ve tried many of their excellent suggestions, but very little has seemed to work for me – perhaps my chosen field, business communication, is just too small and cynical for such marketing activities.
But when someone offers you Get paid up to $4,800/month to add a banner ad on your website, you can occasionally find yourself clicking through, even though you have a feeling of dread about it.
Yes, it is a multi-level affiliate scheme. Yes, I believe that you really can earn $4,800/month, but probably only if you have the traffic numbers and audience interest of someone like Darren Rowse.
Here’s what the email said:
The famous network ContactThem just offered to pay any website owner
up to $4,800/month to show their banner ad on their website! And listen to this: Even if you choose to remove their banner ad from
your website after one month of exposure, they’ll keep on paying you
that amount every month afterward!Read more about it in this article
So I did and I’m giving it a go. Payment is based on sales of USD$49.90/week or USD$49.95/month software packages, not click-thru’s or impressions. I’m running a simple text ad in my sidebar of this site, and I’ll run something similar over on my main articles website.
As ContactThem’s Terms of Service aren’t as onerous as Adsense’s, I’ll let you know how I get on…
