Affili@SYD: reflections

Affili@SYD: reflections

affili@syd logo - click on it to find out more about the conference W hat a fantastic affiliate marketing conference the folks at Viva9 put together! Chris Barron and the team, with help from the ever-lovely Beth Etling, created a ton of goodwill amongst presenters and attendees at Affili@SYD – you can even read the various twitter feeds that were going on: #affiliatSYD / #affiliateSYD / #Affili@SYD!

For a start, I got to meet the exceedingly smart Jay Berkowitz and was most assuredly not the only one blown away by his keynote address! His makeovers on websites were stunning, as were the list of tools he pointed us to – I’ve installed SeoQuake and am already shocked into action by some of my appalling rankings!

I also got to catch up with the divine Miss P (Laurel Papworth) and catch up on some of the going-ons of the Sydney social media scene.

But most importantly I got to meet and be inspired by a whole swagload of folks who were willing to share their time with me and let me rabbit on about this social media ‘thang’. To those of you in my audiences, may I say ‘thank you’ for your attention, your questions, your lack of tomato-throwing and your patience as I rattled through 407 powerpoint slides, all with about 40 words on each at 8point font size.

Actually, that last bit about the 407 slides and the font size is a lie, but I’m in the process of uploading the presentations to slideshare, with the audio and the urls of the videos I attempted and failed to show (through no fault of the organisers but only of my failure to edit down a 50 minute mp3 file to 2 minutes, I hasten to add!)

I don’t know about anyone else, but I reckon the day was a smashing success and look forward to a repeat next year (or even earlier if possible).

And judging by the number of times he was mentioned (every time exceptionally positively, I hasten to add!), I wonder if Darren Rowse will be there next time as a keynote?

But if you were there, what were your impressions??? Do tell…
