Optus: Colour blindness doesn’t help me much

Here’s an example of mapping where having two very similar shades (at least to my eyes) doesn’t help me an awful lot.

This is an Optus map of 3GSM coverage in South Australia. There is no facility to zoom into the map for greater detail, so my eyes are at the mercy of Optus’ no doubt superbly sighted graphic design department.

I’m red and green colour-blind (as a lot of men are), so brown shades are tricky for me to distinguish from each other. Sigh.

Thanks for your feedback regarding our online coverage maps & the colours that have been used to displays different coverage types. I’ll be sure to pass your feedback on to our marketing team for review :)

If you send your details through to me at http://bit.ly/OPTUS, I’d be more than happy to have a look at the coverage maps for you & provide the information you need.

Thanks, Optus — much appreciate you passing on the comments to your marketing team; not all customers are clear-sighted 30-somethings… [smile]
