Lenovo 14inch LCD monitor

Here’s a cracking idea from Lenovo: a portable monitor for your laptop! Why didn’t someone think of this before?

It’s a slim, light monitor that connects to your laptop via a special USB cable (it takes up 2 USB slots) and gives you a second monitor. It comes with its own protective cover and has an in-built ‘leg’ at the rear that enables you to prop it up at your preferred angle.

How you use it is up to you: I use it as an extension screen so that I can run a wide version of TweetDeck with multiple columns. But I’ve also used it in a meeting to show a small audience something and not have them all lean over my shoulder trying to watch my laptop screen.

The quality is great, and with 16 different brightness settings you can set it up to match your surroundings (‘out of the box’ mode works fine for me).

It’s a snip at around $170, so give yourself an early Christmas present and order one from the Lenovo website.

Cool!
