Second Life is signing up 10,000 people a day — I reckon it has reached the tipping point and will now become mainstream. If you are finding it hard to understand just what the fuss is all about, imagine being able to shop Amazon through Second Life instead of your browser. You walk into the Amazon store, interact with other shoppers and sales clerks, get recommendations from others… all in real time. Then you are able to make an informed purchase. Starting to get why Second Life is so important for businesses now?

Cybraries: more than just an online library. “Henry the Eighth or Queen Elizabeth, for example, might turn up in the library to talk to you.” Imagine a school field trip without the smelly sandwiches, missing students and stressed teachers. Instead you get to talk with subject experts, people who are passionate about their area of interest. That enthusiasm can potentially be transmitted to the students, who always seem to remember more what others tell them than their ‘boring old teacher’
