Things to do in SL when you’re bored

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed (you can even subscribe via email!). Thanks for visiting!

1. Visit Ancient Rome! The ROMA sim is beautiful, with a ton of cool stuff to explore, and things to see and do. So don your virtual toga’s and head on over to this landmark. Hat-tip Metaverse

2. Get lost in one of Second Life’s oddest structures, the Q Maze. Its not easy to describe, but a lot of fun to DO, at this landmark. Hat-tip again to Metaverse.

3. Listen to the panel on Second Life financial exchanges, as moderated by Robert Bloomfield of Cornell University. You can read Robert’s report, and find out more details here. It’s big, but worth it - download podcast (78:55 minutes / 72.25 MB) courtesy of Metaverse.

4. Speculate on the importance of brand growth within SL. Kzero are reporting a growth trend of some importance. As they say, “Simply having virtual versions of their real world products is a short-term strategy with a limited upside. Better initiatives in this sector should focus on attempting to create a link between real world and virtual world activity, using the 3D environment to bring residents closer to their brand experience.”

5. Consider the implication that Second Life accounts for more time expended than all other forms of entertainment combined. This is the finding from a newly released Market Truths research study, Second Life Entertainment Market, 80% of avatar time in Second Life is spent on entertainment activities, totaling just over 16 hours per week ? more than all other forms of their real life entertainment combined.  According to the study, the median time spent on other forms of computer-related entertainment is just 4 hours per week, and 10 hours per week for non computer-related entertainment. Hat tip to Linda Zimmer.

6. Marvel at how Linda Zimmer gets so much information together for we business communicators over at her Business Communicators of Second Life blog.
