The ‘To help Lee get to America everything and the kitchen sink is for sale at half price’ post

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed (you can even subscribe via email!). Thanks for visiting!
“You have GOT to be kidding!” I screamed to no one in particular.
I re-read the email. And re-read it again.

Unheard of.

MyCyberTwin objects now on my team

I’ve purchased the US$25 MyCyberTwin.com object and an anti-idle object for each of my avatars, so that they can remain permanently ‘present’ in SL as long as a browser window is open.
The MyCyberTwin object links back to the profiles I’ve set up on the main MyCyberTwin.com website, so that answers I am slowly entering [...]

Novel idea: actually learn from users!

Greg Verdino, chief strategy officer at social media consulting agency Crayon, argues corporate brands should integrate social media and community capabilities rather than simply creating branded spaces. For instance, he pointed to successful interactive corporate applications by book publishers involving virtual author tours and readings with authors.

So says Enid Burns (Mr Burns’ sister?) over at [...]

Tracking avatars and transactions

I’m wondering if anyone knows how to solve a particular problem I have:
I want to track avatars that I might send to a business, and then track any transactions that avatar might make.
Anyone?

Chat with Penny

Before I launch her into Second Life on a full-time basis (courtesy of the MyCyberTwin object), feel free to ask Penny some questions here.

Reflections - 20/5/08

I’ve just spent the last four hours inputting answers to questions over at MyCyberTwin.com
I’m creating a set of questions and responses for Penny (and I’ll duplicate them for Isabella later) to tie in with the MyCyberTwin object that will keep her alive and functioning in Second Life even if I’m not there.
So far, even [...]

Wiki created

I’ve created a wiki to manage my research project, particularly the outputs.
You are very welcome to pop along and add your ten cents’ worth as you see fit, however be aware that you can only add ‘thread comments’, not edit or create actual pages.
I’m afraid that such powers must rest with select members of the [...]

On GPS integration with served advertising

Just musing further on the MetaVerse Roadmap, I am thinking about whether (or when) the GPS shadow of the real-world ‘owner’ can translate to context-sensitive advertising in-world.
For example, I may be physically situated in Adelaide but travelling through ‘Barcelona’ in Second Life. If there are some billboard or HUD-based advertising tags or prims that [...]

Artificial Avatars: no, really

It had to happen. Rather than paying ’sitters’ L$5/hr to camp out at your place to make it look busy, you can now buy avatars that sit there for free.
Okay, perhaps that’s slightly confusing. But for L$477 you can purchase five different male avatars — clerk, salesman, guard, visitor, manager — and have them [...]

Re-reading The Metaverse Roadmap

On page eight of the MVR Overview [pdf] there is a para above an image that serves as a useful ‘jumping off point’ for some observations now that I am re-reading the document with far more learned eyes.
“Many of today’s “netizens” use 2D personal web pages and home pages in MySpace, and in Korea, 2.5D [...]
